About Us

Bio

Through current work with Beanblossom Consulting, Sara supports not-for-profit, arts, and education organizations by leveraging over 25 years of experience in fundraising, systems planning, communications and advocacy strategy, event planning, and community outreach. 


Clients include the Riley Institute at Furman University, Teachers’ Treasures, the Indiana Innocence Project, The Working Hungry (film series and advocacy initiative), and many more. Sara also regularly collaborates with the Sort Sol Group (SSG) on project-based initiatives. Alongside this consultant team and their nonprofit clients nationwide, she contributes to work in developing strategic plans, communication strategies, and initiatives that co-create positive, meaningful, and sustainable change.


Prior to forming her independent agency, Sara served as associate vice president of communications and advocacy at Indiana Afterschool Network (IAN) for 12 years. In this position, she was the leader of numerous IAN initiatives, including overseeing 10 annual statewide conferences, communications strategy and implementation, and advocacy strategy and implementation at both the state and national levels.


Sara was a White-Riley-Peterson Policy Fellow, a Journey Executive Fellow, and an Indiana Arts Commission Individual Artist grant recipient. She holds her master's degree from the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University, Bloomington. She has completed continuing education at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education with the Project Zero Classroom Institute and the Maine Media Workshops in documentary and storytelling courses.

Dia served as our beloved Vice President of Shipping and Receiving—a title she earned through years of loyal service overseeing every delivery, greeting every guest, and ensuring that no box or treat went uninspected. 


More than a coworker, she was a steadfast companion and daily source of joy, love, and calm. Her presence filled every workspace with warmth and humor, reminding us all to pause, stretch, and appreciate the simple moments that make up a good day.
